About the Aircraft: The Model 30 was christened "Genevieve" literally by having a bottle of champagne broken against its fuselage, in December, 1942 . On June 26, 1943 the ship was untethered and made its maiden flight behind Bell's Gardenville, NY plant garage. Bell perfected the rotor system used in the experimental Model 30 to excellent effect in the company's successful Model 47 series.
